Generate a static QR code from text

Enter a URL or other text to generate a QR code locally. The tool encodes the exact text you provide; it has one text field, not separate forms that build Wi-Fi or contact-card records. You can choose foreground/background colors, error correction, preview size, and PNG download size.

Content examples you can copy

A website URL:

https://example.com/help

A Wi-Fi record using a sample network and password:

WIFI:T:WPA;S:GuestNetwork;P:ExamplePassword123;H:false;;

A simple contact card, with the line breaks retained:

BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:3.0
FN:Alice Example
TEL:+12025550123
END:VCARD

The tool encodes these strings but does not validate every destination, vCard field, or scanner's behavior. The sample details are fictitious. Replace them before use; characters with special meaning in a record may require escaping according to that record's format.

Steps and size controls

  1. Enter the complete text. For a website, include the intended scheme such as https://.
  2. Set colors and the L/M/Q/H error-correction level.
  3. Adjust the preview size from 128 to 320 pixels. Preview updates after a short delay.
  4. Download a 256×256, 512×512, or 1024×1024 PNG using the matching button. Download dimensions are separate from preview size.
  5. Scan the downloaded image on a real device before sharing or printing it.

Copying the preview image requires browser clipboard support and permission. Downloading a PNG is an alternative when the browser cannot copy images.

Error correction, colors, and scanning

L, M, Q, and H trade increased error recovery for a denser code at the same content length. More correction is not a substitute for sufficient image size, readable contrast, or an intact quiet area around the code. Dense content in a very small image can still be difficult to scan.

Use a dark foreground on a light background and retain the generated border area. Avoid cropping tightly to the data squares, placing artwork over them, or stretching the image unevenly. Check the final print at its actual intended size and with the expected scanning devices.

What a static code means

The PNG encodes its content directly. Changing text in this page creates a new image and does not update an already downloaded or printed code. A website code continues to point to the encoded URL; if that destination disappears, the QR image cannot repair it.

This tool provides no hosted redirect, scan analytics, expiration management, logo insertion, or SVG download. Do not put secrets in a public code: anyone who can scan a Wi-Fi password record can read that password.

Check content length and color contrast if generation or scanning fails. Very long inputs may exceed capacity, especially at higher correction levels. A scanner opening a URL is different from a successful Wi-Fi join or contact import; test the actual action you need.

Use the image compressor for other web assets, while keeping a QR code sharp and testing it after any processing. Use image to Base64 if a small downloaded PNG must be included in a text-based document.
