Preview CSV without a spreadsheet

Upload a CSV file, drag it onto the upload area, or paste its text. The viewer parses the data in your browser and presents a searchable, sortable table. It is a viewer rather than a spreadsheet editor: changing a cell or exporting an edited CSV is not part of this tool.

With comma as the delimiter and the first row treated as a header, the result has three columns and two data rows:

Quotes keep the comma inside one cell. A doubled quote represents a literal quote within a quoted field. Numeric-looking values remain strings, so 001 keeps its leading zeros. Quoted fields can also contain line breaks; an unclosed quote can cause a parse warning or an unexpected row layout.

Steps and settings

1. Choose a file or paste CSV; the preview updates automatically. The existing sample button also provides ready-made data.
2. Leave delimiter detection on automatic, or select comma, semicolon, Tab, or pipe when the layout looks wrong.
3. Turn off the header option when the first row contains ordinary data. Empty-line handling is configurable.
4. Select a preview row limit, then search or sort the loaded rows. Click a column heading to change sort direction.
5. Change the page size to 50, 100, or 200 rows. Click a cell to copy its value.

For name;score followed by Alice;10, select semicolon if automatic detection does not produce two columns. A CSV with only a single column is not necessarily invalid.

Preview limits and search scope

The file upload limit is 10 MiB (10 × 1024 × 1024 bytes). The default preview limit is 1000 data rows. Search and sorting operate on those preview rows, not on rows excluded by the limit. Pagination changes how many matching rows are visible at a time; it does not extend the search to the rest of the file.

The current parser reads the full text before trimming the displayed rows. A smaller preview can make the table lighter, but does not turn the parser into a streaming reader. Large files may still use substantial browser memory. Pasted text is also parsed in memory.

Fixing unexpected output

• Everything appears in one column: check the delimiter and quoting.
• A data row disappeared into the heading: disable the header option.
• Search finds nothing: check whether the row is beyond the preview limit and whether the query matches an actual cell value.
• Characters look corrupted: re-export the source as UTF-8. This viewer has no character-encoding selector; changing a delimiter will not repair incorrectly decoded text.
• Rows contain different numbers of cells: inspect missing separators, extra separators, and unbalanced quotes in the source.

Continue your workflow

CSV contents are processed locally by this tool. Avoid using a preview as the sole verification of a critical import: inspect the source and any parse warnings too. Use the JSON formatter for structured API responses, or text comparison to compare two text exports.
